ANSUL has issued technical bulletins 2026030 and 2026032 covering new design provisions for its R-102 restaurant fire suppression system, according to an October 29, 2026 report by fire safety publication GAFSED.
Based on testing to EN 17446, the bulletins specify single-nozzle protection arrangements for fryers and ranges under Jet Extract hoods. They also approve the use of press-fit distribution piping.

The single-nozzle provisions give designers a documented protection option for the specified appliances and hood configuration. The approval of press-fit piping adds an option for the distribution pipework. Both changes are directly relevant when selecting and installing components for an R-102 system.
The reported provisions should not be treated as a general approval for every kitchen layout or appliance. Designers and installers will need to consult the bulletins for the applicable conditions and determine how they apply to a particular installation.
